Frederick Hood died tragically on December 24, 2008,  overcome by an avalanche in the Austrian Alps while skiing with friends.

This site was set up by friends from the 2003 class of the Bologna Center of the Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) for all to express our feelings and thoughts about Fred with each other and with his family.

Fred has participated in several Bologna Center classes.  His contribution was immense.  His passing a terrible loss for our community. Many of his friends and colleagues wanted to create a way for his accomplishments to continue and decided to work with the Bologna Center to establish a memorial fund in his name.  His family also has established a Memorial Fund from Fred’s other alma maters, Eton College and Harvard.

This blog has thus been transformed into a tool to disseminate information on these efforts.
