Eton Memorial Fund

Fred’s family has been touched by the number of his friends who have asked about contributing to something which would remember and memorialise him.

A fund is being established to be named the “Frederick Hood Memorial Fund”. The purpose of the Fund will be to celebrate and remember Fred’s name and all he accomplished at Eton and Harvard related to his love of the theatre, including his memorable turns as an actor and the many plays he produced and directed.

The precise details remain to be developed but it is expected that the Fund will be used to assist and enable young, promising actors to make the move from school theatre to the next step in an acting career.

For both administrative and tax deductibility reasons, it is proposed that the Fund will be administered by Eton College with input from Fred’s family and, in addition to Eton, friends of Fred from Harvard and Edinburgh Universities. There are separate charitable bodies in the U.K. and the U.S. to which donations may be made. Those wishing to make a donation by electronic transfer should send an email to development@etoncollege.org.uk for the attention of Bill O’Hearn to receive instructions. Alternatively, gifts may be sent to the attention of “Frederick Hood Memorial Fund”, c/o The Development Office, Eton College, Windsor, Berks SL4-6DW, U.K. Cheques in USD should be made payable to “American Friends of Eton College” and in Sterling to “Eton College”.
